Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic!!!!  My family’s experience at the Jazz Kitchen was top-notch from making the initial reservation through dessert.

Mr. Duarte was great to work with and he allowed me to make reservations for 7:00PM on a Friday night to do my restaurant review.  I knew this would be a busy time and was excited to see what the night would hold.

We arrived a few minutes early and briefly waited in line before I checked in with the hostess.  Once I told her about my reservation she warmly welcomed me to the Jazz Kitchen and even called my by my name J.  We were seated in the main dining area (you can sit either inside or outside) right in front of the jazz band.   The band plays nightly (Thursday night there are dueling pianos, we’ll have to go back to see those) and the music is fantastic.

Our server’s name was Jackie and she was very professional and friendly.  My parents had a few questions on the menu that she quickly answered before we all ordered.  She repeatedly came back to check on us throughout the meal.  We never had a dirty dish or empty plate on our table.  She made sure our food was being enjoyed at every stage of our dinner.  I would ask my parents to request her the next time we come to eat at the Jazz Kitchen.

We initially ordered drinks while we read through the menu.  I loved that the kids’ menu had a wide variety of drink choices.  My parents ordered the crab cake for an appetizer.  I don’t like fish but the sauce for the crab cake was delicious!  It had a little bit of spice and I love spicy food.  It had an arugula salad with it that I’ve never tried before and I really enjoyed it.  For dinner I ordered the kids chicken with macaroni and cheese.  At first it was hard for me to decide what to have because everything looked so good.  I looked at the adults’ menu and wanted to eat all of that food too!  My dad had salmon (which I just started to like) and my mom had the most amazing pasta.  It was penne pasta with chicken and TONS of cheese, simply SCRUMPTIOUS!!!  All of our dinners were savory and full of robust flavor.  Even my mom loved the chicken from my kids’ meal.

Dessert was heaven!  I had a sundae that comes (free!) with the kids mean.  My parents ordered crème brulee (lucky me!) that was out of this world!  I LOVED the sugar coating.

The ambiance (glad I learned that vocabulary word) was perfect!  My parents wedding reception was Mardi Gras themed so this restaurant was perfect.  The musicians were a class act and even had their CDs available for sale.  Even though the dining room we were seated in was very full the noise level wasn’t too loud.  I was able to meet with the manager on duty that night and he was very welcoming.  I felt like we had very personal service and that makes me definitely want to come back.

Why try the Jazz Kitchen?  The Jazz Kitchen doesn’t just offer you a meal they give you an experience.  The restaurant was exceptionally clean, had great music, an outstanding staff and AWESOME food!  Located in Downtown Disney makes the restaurant close to world-class entertainment at Walt Disney.   This is a restaurant for families with children, not just adults.  The meals are reasonable priced which makes it an affordable experience.  In addition, the variety of the menu gives you an incentive to come back again and again!

Overall grade:  A+!!!!!

This is a restaurant every tourist or local MUST try!

Welcome to my blog!

After moving around the United States when my parents were in the military I have encountered a lot of restaurants, some good and some horrible.  My parents never let me pick where we ate and some of the places we've eaten at had nothing appetizing for kids.  I decided to start reviewing restaurants from a kids' perspective.  So, I hope you start to follow my blog as I review restaurants in the southern California area.  I hope my reviews give both visitors and locals some ideas of where to eat out with your friends and family.  Enjoy!!!
